La Liga giants leading the race to sign No.9 Liverpool long-term target
Blaugrana are said to be in pole position to land the signature of PSV and Holland striker Donyell Malen. The 20-year-old centre-forward has been in brilliant form so far this year, with the attacker bagging 16 goals and six assists for the Dutch club, while also scoring once and assisting once for the Netherlands.
Following this, several clubs have been linked with Donyell, with two of these being Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both of the La Liga clubs are in the race for Malen, with Chelsea and Liverpool also said to be in the hunt for him.
However, as per the same report, it looks Barcelona are leading the race to sign the Netherlands international, as the Catalan club are in pole position to land his signature, one that’s going to set them back as much as €25m. He has vast potential and can become a top-class centre-forward if he continuous improvement.
Barcelona could do with adding to their options in the front-line given the fact that Luis Suarez has declined a lot in recent years, as well as the Uruguayan striker also approaching the tail end of his career. Malen named in the national team squad several times and even scored a winning goal against Germany.
Presumably, Griezmann will take over from Luis at the club’s first-choice centre-forward once the former Reds man departs from the Nou Camp, with Dutch striker being back-up should he end up joining them. And if this report is anything to go off, it looks like that scenario is certainly a big possibility.
