Ligue 1 giants are close to signing €10m-rated Chelsea footballer
Chelsea look ready to make a loss of £10m on left-back Baba Rahman, as Ghana international closes in on a move to Ligue 1 club Marseille. The London club paid £14m upfront to add the player from Augsburg back in 2015, however since then, the footballer’s Blues career hasn’t exactly gone to plan.
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Abdul has only made 23 first-team appearances for Chelsea, with the defender making numerous loan moves away during that time frame as well. And now, it seems like Rahman is close to calling time on his stint with the Blues, as left-back is close to signing for the French club.
Olympians are readying a £5m offer for Baba, with London club officials even being spotted meeting with Marseille’s sporting director recently, something that suggests a deal is undoubtedly in the pipeline. Blues aren’t bothered about how much of a loss they make on Baba, as they’d surely want to get the player’s wages off their books very soon.
Ghanaian left-back never really seized his opportunity to impress London club fans during his time at Stamford Bridge, and now, it seems like he may never get the chance to do so following this news. He is a regular member of the national team line-up.
It’ll be interesting to see precisely how much Chelsea get for the 25-year-old defender, however, the fee they’re going to get is to be lower than the £14m they paid to bring him in four years ago. Blues have Marco Alonso and Emerson Palmieri in this position.
