Liverpool and Arsenal eyeing move for in-demand Portuguese stopper
Liverpool are interested in securing services of 17-year-old Portuguese stopper Ricardo van der Laan and according to Football Insider, while their Premier Leauge rivals Arsenal eyeing a summer move for signature.
Laan plays for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Belenenses SAD, although he has only played for the Under 23 team, doing so on four times during the 2019/20 season.
The starlet has also made appearances for Portugal’s U-18 team and has quickly made a name for himself in Europe following his impressive displays.
The Merseyside Reds already boast plenty of talented youngster having secured the services of Jakub Ojrzynski from Legia Warszawa last season, as well as 16-year-old Fabian Mrozek, who recently made a switch from Poland.
These two Polish youngsters joined Kamil Grabara a third native Polish stopper, on the Merseyside Reds books whilst Klopp also has Irish keeper Caiomhin Kelleher, in his squad, although he could gain valuable experience away from the Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
With such an embarrassment of riches in the goalkeeping progress, starting with arguably the best in the world in Alisson, it’s tough to comprehend how important another young stopper signing might be, especially when the chances of anybody replacing Brazilian is slim.
