Liverpool and Man Utd eyeing move for Lille’s box-to-box midfielder
President Gerard Lopez has revealed that the “door is open” for their star player Boubakary Soumare to depart from Lille this summer amid interest from Man Utd and Liverpool.
Having a stunning season in the French top-tier and the Champions League, Soumare was rumoured with a switch Newcastle United, Wolves, Liverpool and Man Utd.
While no move materialised during the winter transfer window at the beginning of 2020, Lopez has claimed that he is happy for the 21-year-old to join a new team, if they meet their valuation.
Speaking to Telefoot Chaine, Lopez said: “I am going to sit down with the players and their entourages this week.
“We need to sit down with the players and speak. In terms of Boubakary, as we play with two in the midfield… The door is open if he wants to leave. We have had important offers from clubs where he did not want to go.
“All three parties have to agree for a transfer to occur. He’s quite impatient to play and that’s normal. It shows ambition. He will undoubtedly leave the club, the door is open. We have concrete offers. We will talk in the coming days.”
Soumare has only played for eight minutes in French outfits opening two Ligue 1 games of the season.
