Liverpool are closely monitoring No.7 Nigerian goal machine
Reds are interested in signing Lille centre-forward Victor Osimhen this summer but will have to battle with Napoli for the striker. A string of clubs have been linked with Nigeria international in recent months, including Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Inter Milan thanks to a fantastic breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1.
Victor has scored 18 goals in all tournaments this campaign, 13 of which have come in Ligue 1. Reports suggest that Naples have already made a bid for Osimhen, but Reds are set to compete with them for his signature, and according to reports, the asking price ‘shouldn’t be a problem.’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already stated that it will be a relatively quiet summer for the Merseyside club in the transfer market, thanks to the covid-19. ‘It is about how influential the coronavirus crisis would be on all financial parts of life. It’s not only football, but we all will also pay a bill in the end,’ said the German tactician.
‘Covid has influenced both sides with ins and outs. It’s not likely that it will be the busiest summer in the world.’ The Naples were reported to have bid nearly £70m for Victor, but the actual figure is likely to be closer to half that. Osimhen himself rubbished reports that he had come to a deal with the Serie A giants earlier this month.
‘The news relating to my agreement with Napoli is false,’ the 21-year-old centre-forward said. The Nigerian striker has played only 64 professional games, 25 of which came on loan at Charleroi in the Belgian top flight.
