Liverpool closely monitoring €75m-rated Germany international
Merseyside club have until April to trigger RB Leipzig centre-forward Timo Werner’s release clause, according to reports in German. Liverpool manager is keen to sign Germany international, who he considers as the perfect signing to his attacking line-up.
Reds are also tracking Jadon Sancho, but Borussia Dortmund are likely to demand a monster transfer fee for the winger. Timo, on the other hand, has scored more goals than Sancho this campaign and is available for £50m. That figure could rise to £55m depending on where Leipzig finish in the Bundesliga, the Red Bulls are currently second.
However, Bild has revealed the release clause expires in April, meaning Merseyside club must make a quick decision over Werner. The 23-year-old striker has long been linked with a switch to Reds to link up with Jurgen Klopp. The Reds coach keeps a close eye on developments in the Bundesliga, and he has netted 20 times in 21 games this season.
Were the Merseyside club to put off their move for the German centre-forward until the summer, his asking price could skyrocket. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Timo and Leipzig would hope clubs will line up to secure his services this summer.
Jurgen is a massive fan of Werner not only because of his scoring skill but his versatility. He can play anywhere in front-line but has been most prolific operating as a centre-forward this campaign.
Reds has had three quiet transfer windows, but with Liverpool poised to win their first Premier League title, Klopp is anticipating a busy summer to fortify his talented squad.
