Liverpool enter the battle to sign €30m-rated Spanish forward
Liverpool and Man City may be ready for a summer battle as they both eye a £70m transfer for Wolverhampton forward Adama Traore with Barcelona also waiting in the attackers. Reds and Cityzens are keeping tabs on Spain international.
Adama has enjoyed one of his finest campaigns to date with five goals and seven assists to his name. One of his best displays came as Wolverhampton overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Man City at Molineux. It provoked the reigning Premier League champions into enquiring about Traore’s availability.
They were swiftly told that Wolverhampton would not listen to offers south of £70m as Blaugraba also look to bring back the 23-year-old winger who graduated from their academy. Any swoop for the Spanish forward would almost certainly come at the end the campaign such is the difficulty of completing moves midseason.
Man City have asked Wolves to keep them updated on the situation surrounding Traore as they look to head the queue. Adama moved from Middlesbrough to Wolves in 2018 for £18m leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to pocket a cool profit should they cash in.
Middlesbrough have lofty ambitions though and don’t lack for cash, leaving them in a strong position to negotiate. Reds meanwhile have always looked to add footballers who suit the German tactician’s energetic, fast-paced system something Adama would do.
A lack of cover for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah has been highlighted as a potential Achilles heel for Liverpool who will look to fight on four fronts once again next campaign.
