Liverpool in advanced talks with 23-year-old Bundesliga centre-forward

Merseyside club are interested in signing RB Leipzig centre-forward Timo Werner when the January window reopens in winter. Reds have Germany international on their radar ahead of the winter transfer window, reports say.

Liverpool, not content with their stunning season so far, are keen to bolster their squad with the German tactician determined to go all-out to win the Premier League title, as well as retaining their Champions League crown.

Merseyside club have been linked with Timo for some time, with the striker flourishing under Julian Nagelsmann in the Bundesliga this campaign. Werner would have to agree to be a back-up under Jurgen to make a move to Anfield.

As things stand, Reds have a flawless front-line. Roberto Firmino occupies the 23-year-old centre-forward’s No 9 role and has excelled there, playing a key role in their charge to the Premier League summit. Klopp wants to bolster the front-line during the summer transfer window.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane often play alongside the Brazil international, meaning Xherdan Shaqiri regularly has to make do with a place on the bench. And German striker may have to do the same. However, in doing that, Timo puts his opportunities of making Joachim Low’s Euro 2020 squad at risk.

And Liverpool aren’t the only club to have been linked with a move for the striker ahead of the winter transfer window. Man United have emerged as potential suitors despite Anthony Martial’s fine come back to form. And Chelsea are also interested, despite being banned from signing players until the summer of 2020.
