Liverpool in the battle to sign 20-year-old Bundesliga playmaker
Merseyside giants are reportedly interested in signing talented playmaker Kai Havertz. Germany international is among the finest talents in the Bundesliga thanks to his performances for Bayer Leverkusen. This campaign, Kai has scored three goals while providing one assist in 21 matches across all tournaments so far.
Reds are very interested in Havertz and could make a bid of €125m which would be a club record, eclipsing the £75m they paid for VVD. The 20-year-old attacker has also been linked to Man United, as Red Devils contacted Bayer regarding his availability, so it’s clear Kai’s a talent who’s expected to soon make the step up to a bigger club.
Merseyside club currently have some pretty good midfielders at their disposal and right now, the addition of the German playmaker would perhaps be a little redundant.
Hence, if Liverpool are to make a bid for Kai, they could do with waiting for a few more years as, by then, the likes of Henderson and Wijnaldum could be in their 30s, and veteran midfielder James Milner may not even still be at the Anfield.
That said, Naby Keita has perhaps not settled as expected at Liverpool, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has had his trouble with injuries in recent times.
Adam Lallana is also nearing the end of his deal, so there could soon be room for top young talent like Havertz to come in, especially if it means beating a rival like Man United to a player who’d majorly strengthen their currently underwhelming midfield.
