Liverpool join the race to sign 21-year-old French playmaker
The Merseyside giants have reportedly entered the battle to sign Lyon star Houssem Aouar. U21 France international has had a fantastic campaign with the Les Gones, netting nine goals while providing seven assists in 37 games across all tournaments so far. Jurgen Klopp wants to strengthen the midfield during the summer transfer window.
Houssem has been linked to PSG, Man City and Juventus as all three clubs are keen on his signature. Now, Liverpool have joined the race to sign Aouar who is valued at €55m. The 21-year-old midfielder has been in excellent form this campaign, and it won’t be much of a surprise if bigger clubs try to sign him during the summer.
Reds currently have some pretty decent midfielders in their squad, and it doesn’t seem very likely that they will make a move for the French midfielder unless one of them leaves. However, even if Liverpool or any other club for that instance tries to sign the midfielder, Lyon would certainly demand a hefty transfer fee for him.
Liverpool have fantastic results in the Premier League this season as they are leading the table. Merseyside giants added several footballers during the summer transfer window like Sepp van den Berg from Zwolle, Harvey Elliott from Fulham, English shot-stopper Andy Lonergan and Spanish goalkeeper Adrian.
Reds also added Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg in January. English club heavily linked with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica, PSG star Kylian Mbappe, Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish, Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare and Real Madrid playmaker Isco.
