Liverpool leading race to sign 21-year-old French goal machine
Kylian Mbappe has been warned he’d face a battle to break into Reds starting line-up if he ever made a move to Liverpool. That’s the view of Reds legend Bruce Grobbelaar. The 21-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a speculative move to Anfield in recent months with his long-term future at PSG in doubt.
Real Madrid are also said to be interested in signing Kyalian, though the covid-19 pandemic may have ensured the forward has to remain in PSG for at least another campaign. Reds are unlikely to move for Mbappe anytime soon due to the finances required to complete such an agreement.
And while France international is one of the planet’s most outstanding talents, former Liverpool shot-stopper Grobbelaar believes he wouldn’t necessarily break up the German manager’s famous front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
But having seen his former side win the PL, last league, Grobbelaar believes any player who doesn’t want to join the Liverpool needs to see a doctor.
“The squad is brilliant at this stage, it’s up to FSG and the Klopp advisers that are going to determine whether those players go or remain,” he said. “I, for one, think they will be going because they want first-team football.”
“Listen, at this moment in time every player wants to come and play for Liverpool because we’re the Premiership titleholders and anybody who doesn’t just go to see the doctor very quickly because we are the best team and we will be the best team for so many years.”
