Liverpool set to offload defensive rock for around £30m
Liverpool are reportedly set to cash in on Mamadou Sakho in this summer’s transfer window if they get a fee of £30million for the in-form centre-back.
The Frenchman has impressed on loan at Crystal Palace, who want to do a permanent contract for him after ensuring Premier League survival thanks to his strings of great displays at the back.
Notwithstanding Liverpool’s need for refreshing in that department, it appears Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has the limited intention of making Sakho a key player of his first-team anytime soon.
As reported by the Guardian, Southampton could also be involved as they face the possibility of losing leading centre-back Virgil van Dijk, while Ligue 1 side Nice are also interested.
‘You can’t con anyone that he didn’t make a massive difference,’
‘We won some massive games with him. He’s a nice person, a big character, he’s got the respect of all the players, and it’s one we’d like to do. But, of course, we have a lot of things we need to do in the summer, and the money needs to work for Liverpool and us.” – The Egles chief Steve Parish told the Holmesdale Radio podcast.
‘I’m sure there’ll be a negotiation on that. If we can make it work, of course, we’d like to, I’m not going to try and be coy or clever on that. He’s a very good player, and I think he likes being with us. We like him. Let’s hope we can do it.’ – He Added.
