Liverpool started talks with 22-year-old Premier League winger

The Merseyside giants manager is reportedly a big admirer of Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes and he could be a summer signing at Liverpool. U21 England international has been a first-team regular for the UCL-chasing Foxes this campaign, scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 24 PL games.

Only 22, Jurgen believes the future is bright for the winger and he has been particularly impressed by his energetic displays and forceful running. Liverpool boss is convinced there is plenty to come from Harvey, whose selfless play has helped Jamie Vardy lead the race for the PL’s Golden Boot on 23 goals.

Barnes’ adaptability is also a big selling point for the Reds manager. Jurgen Klopp wants to add strength in depth to his title-winning squad and Barnes’ ability to play in different places means he would be able to rotate in and out of a side boasting the likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah with ease.

Adding attacking options is high on his agenda, with Adama Traore his top target, although Wolverhampton have so far rebuffed all approaches for the former Aston Villa and Blaugrana player. Foxes bosses will not let him go on the cheap and the German boss has already admitted Reds will not spend mega-money on footballers this summer.

However, he fits into the club’s model of signing footballers will sell-on potential and his skill to play on either wing and in midfield is an attractive proposition. With Adam Lallana leaving the club Brighton are thought to be his next place, Klopp would like to add a similarly versatile player to his squad, but Harvey may prove out of his reach this summer.
