Man United are closely monitoring €45m-rated England international
Declan Rice is being tipped to transfer for a big-money fee in the future, with a transfer to Man United making sense, according to ex-Premier League star Noel Whelan. England international is undoubtedly one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League at the moment and makes sense as a signing Red Devils could be after.
Man United lack quality options in the middle of the park at the moment, with Declan more than likely to prove an upgrade on the likes of Nemanja Matic and Fred, while Ander Herrera still needs replacing after his exit to PSG. Whelan believes he is going to be the next big-money PL transfer, tipping him to move for £90m.
The 20-year-old midfielder looks like just the kind of footballer Red Devils could do with splashing the cash on, as they’ve shown they’re willing to do by spending big on two other home-grown stars in Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this transfer window.
“Hammers have got an extraordinary footballer on their hands,” Noel said. “They will struggle to hold on to English midfielder because the big clubs will be hot on his trail. “I think Declan Rice could be the next footballer who goes for a Premier League record fee.
We have just seen Harry Maguire go for £80m and I wouldn’t be surprised if Declan goes for more than that, above £90m, even.“He’s young, English, hugely talented and is such a long way from his peak. You look at a club like Red Devils, who need a midfield anchorman and you can see it happening.“
