Man United are desperate to sign €30m-rated Nigeria international

Victor Osimhen’s suitors have been warned they will not be able to sign the striker on the cheap this summer by Lille owner Gerard Lopez. Nigeria international has enjoyed a fantastic season in Ligue 1 and has attracted interest from several heavyweight PL giants, including the likes of Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Les Dogues have earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most forward-thinking teams in recent years and have sold several footballers for enormous profits, including the likes of Nicolas Pepe who joined the Gunners last summer for a club-record £72m fee.

The covid-19 crisis is sure to have a significant impact on this summer’s transfer market, but Gerard insists his team will not be bullied into selling their prized asset for less than his market value. He said: ‘There are multiple bids. We turned down one English and one Spanish bid this winter transfer window.’

Lille are also fending off interest in their defender Gabriel who has been attracting interest from Gunners and Chelsea, and Gerard revealed last month that the Brazilian is set for a move to a bigger team. He said: ‘It’s true that he would like to go and try something else out. We haven’t taken that decision yet, but he’s received several bids.’

‘I feel he’s closer to one club than others, but nothing’s done yet so we’ll see. I feel he is alongside the top five dominant centre-backs in Europe for now. His statistics, which aren’t well covered outside of Ligue 1, shows that his percentage for winning duels is pretty unheard of in a league that’s extremely physical.’
