Man United are desperate to sign No.10 Premier League playmaker
Red Devils transfer target Jack Grealish should follow in the footsteps of Gareth Barry and James Milner by leaving Aston Villa. That’s the view of former Villa centre-forward Darius Vassell, who believes the time has come for U21 England international to turn his back on his boyhood club.
Jack has enjoyed a shock campaign, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 23 Premier League matches and was thought to be on the verge of a first call-up to the England squad before the coronavirus pandemic put football on hold.
Despite their captain’s best efforts, Villa find themselves in the bottom three although they do have a game in hand over their relegation rivals and Vassell thinks Grealish needs to make the step up to a bigger club. ‘I always get asked about Jack Grealish’s situation,’ Vassell said.
‘I want him to stay through supporting Villa he’s one of our own. ‘But he’s so right now, where could he end up if he went to a better team with better players? Is it right to hold him back? ‘If you look at history, you’ve got Gareth Barry and James Milner who left for City. Top-quality players went on to bigger and better things.
‘So I think it’s a matter of time with Jack. He’s so good, how can other teams not be tempted to come in and steal him?” ‘I don’t like saying it, but he’s got to go at some point. Unless Aston Villa gets new owners and are buying the best players, go and get the most for your career.
