Man United closely monitoring €130m-rated England international

Man City are more confident than ever of keeping Raheem Sterling and are unconcerned by the Red Devils interest in the forward. Man United were monitoring England international’s future at the Etihad Stadium, particularly given Man City’s two-year Champions League ban.

While a deal is considered unlikely at Theatre of Dreams, it’s claimed the Red Devils would press ahead with a move should Raheem become available Man City have appealed their ban but there is no doubt that two years outside of Europe’s elite tournaments would leave the club more susceptible to losing their most coveted footballers.

However, Man City are entirely unconcerned by Man United’s interest in Sterling and have no intention of allowing the attacker to leave the club, nevermind to the PL rival. The 25-year-old winger’s current contract runs until 2023, but Cityzens were already in negotiations with the forward’s representatives over an extension.

The English winger is already one of the top earners at the Etihad Stadium, but Man City were prepared to make him the highest-paid footballer in the club’s history on a weekly salary of nearly £380,000-a-week before bonuses. It’s unclear how the covid pandemic has affected talks or whether Cityzens would still be willing to stretch quite that far.

However, the club stays intent on keeping him and are more confident than ever that he will stay for his peak years given a ‘window of opportunity’ has been eradicated thanks to the covid pandemic. Man City value Raheem Sterling at £200m and believe his commercial value ranks alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
