Man United enter the battle to sign 22-year-old promising defender
Red Devils and Liverpool are both reportedly interested in signing centre-back Ben White, who has impressed on loan at Leeds United during the 2019-20 season. The 22-year-old defender joined the Peacocks during the summer transfer window, and he has not missed a single minute of his loan side’s Championship season.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Man United were keeping a close eye on the performances of the Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back having been impressed with his form this term. Ben has vast potential and can become a top-class defender if he continuous improvement. White will return to Brighton next summer after a loan spell.
Red Devils are firmly in the hunt for the former Southampton starlet, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are likely to face competition from the Merseyside club should they make a move. White has only made two first-team games for Brighton and spent the second half of the 2018-19 campaign on loan with Peterborough United in League One.
Man United and Liverpool currently have the world’s two most expensive defenders in their ranks with Virgil van Dijk and Harry Maguire arriving for £75m and £80m respectively. Red Devils have terrible results in the Premier League as they are in a 7th place in the table.
Man United signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Harry Maguire from Leicester City, Daniel James from Swansea and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace. English club heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, Sporting playmaker Bruno Fernandes and RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.
