Man United enter the battle to sign 29-year-old La Liga striker
Arsenal and Man United transfer targets are reportedly among those in the firing line at Barcelona. Blaugrana could offload some big names like Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti in the next transfer window.
Veteran midfield pair Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal could also leave, as well as squad footballers and loanees such as Neto, Carles Alena and Martin Braithwaite. Samuel has been linked as a target for both Gunners and Red Devils, and it looks clear Umtiti could bolster both those clubs if he gets back to his best.
Samuel’s recent form has not been the best, but if he can get over the fitness struggles he’s shown throughout his career what a quality performer he can be. Umtiti surely still has time to improve and revive his career as well, and the London club, in particular, would surely see him as an upgrade on the likes of Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi.
Red Devils have also been linked with Antoine and could be just what the Norwegian boss needs after failing to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez after their departures last summer. However, Antoine has struggled to settle at Camp Nou, and Man United are interested in snapping him up and offering him their iconic number 7 shirt.
Man United have had greats like George Best, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo wearing that number on their backs, though it’s currently occupied by flop signing Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean forward is out on loan at Inter Milan, and one imagines he has no future at Theatre of Dreams, with the Frenc superstar a perfect like-for-like replacement.
