Man United keen on signing 16-year-old English midfielder
Red Devils have offered Birmingham City youngster Jude Bellingham a massive £100,000-a-week deal as they try to beat Borussia Dortmund to his signature, according to reports. U17 England international is one of English football’s most talented teenagers and is wanted by a host of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Man United making an early move by inviting Jude and his parents to Carrington. Red Devils rolled out the red carpet for Bellingham after being permitted to speak to the midfielder by Birmingham, with Sir Alex Ferguson even drafted in to help with the charm offensive.
However, the 16-year-old starlet has also reportedly spoken to PL rivals Chelsea while a move to Borussia Dortmund, following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, is another enticing option. But Man United are determined to land the Englishman in a £30m deal and have offered him a six-figure weekly salary to commit to the club.
The £100k-a-week deal blows anything Bundesliga giants can offer out of the water and would make Bellingham one of the highest-paid youngsters in world football. Ironically, Jude cannot sign a professional deal until he turns 17 on June 29 and currently takes home just £150 a week on his youth terms for Birmingham.
While Red Devils offer would be accepted without a moment’s hesitation by most players, Jude wants to take his time weighing up his future, and Dortmund remains an attractive proposition. Dortmund have a proven track record of developing young players, while he would be out of the spotlight that comes with playing in the Premier League.
