Man United keep a close eye on 20-year-old Bundesliga playmaker
Kai Havertz is interested in a move to the PL this summer and would consider a switch to Man United, according to reports. The Bayer Leverkusen playmaker has been in scintillating form since the come back of the Bundesliga last month, scoring five times in four matches.
Red Devils are one of several clubs credited with an interest in Germany international, with Chelsea and Liverpool also linked with a swoop. Kai views a transfer to the PL as a ‘realistic’ option in the next window and is open to becoming a Man United player.
Although Kai is keen to take the next step in his career, he does not want to sacrifice game time. The 20-year-old playmaker is aiming to be included in Germany’s 2021 European Championships team and cannot afford to sit on the bench for a campaign.
The covid-19 pandemic is expected to have a big impact on the transfer window, but Bundesliga giants have slapped a huge £90m price tag on their attacker. Bayer Leverkusen assistant manager Marcel Daum has already warned the German playmaker’s suitors that it will take a huge fee to lure him away. ‘Everyone is asking about Kai Havertz.
‘If you see him play it tells you everything’ the Leverkusen assistant said. ‘For me, he has the elegance of Zidane. If you see his movement, he’s very elegant, he’s always calm, he has the great passing ability. What a lot of people don’t see, because we watch him every day, is that he’s pretty fast. That’s a big bonus.’
