Man United keeping tabs with No.11 World Cup winning forward

The Red Devils have opened discussions with the representatives of Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar over a summer transfer, according to reports. France international has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League, with Man United and Gunners the interested sides.

Man United have sat down with Thomas’ agent in the past week to agree on terms, as they believe his creativity would be an asset to the Norwegian manager’s side. Despite the coronavirus halting all English football until April 30, summer transfer planning has still been going on behind the scenes.

Lemar is reportedly unhappy with the amount of game time at Atletico Madrid, starting just nine games in La Liga this campaign. The 24-year-old winger doesn’t feel his style of play is in line with Diego Simeone’s more defensive philosophy.

The French winger was on Man United’s radar after his sparkling displays in Monaco’s 2016-17 title-winning season but decided to make the £63m switch to Atletico a year later. The report states Thomas’ fee is likely to be high, given the winger has another three years on his deal at the Spanish club.

Man United are also considering weighing up a £50m bid for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports. The Gabonese striker’s deal is due to expire in 2021, with the London club’s top scorer yet to agree on a new contract.

Man United signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Harry Maguire from Leicester City, Daniel James from Swansea and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace. Red Devils also added Bruno Fernandes from Sporting, Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Nathan Bishop from Southend United.
