Man United planning to sell £350,000-a-week flop next summer

Red Devils will attempt to cut all ties with Alexis Sanchez next summer, bringing to an end a disastrous spell at Man United. The 30-year-old winger was shipped out to Inter Milan on loan for the 2019/20 campaign after failing to replicate the form he’d previously shown at Arsenal and Barcelona.

Alexis is the club’s top earner, picking up a ridiculous £500,000-a-week, but Red Devils chiefs see no way back for him amid him having another three years left on his deal. Man United have struggled in the front-line this campaign having failed to replace Sanchez adequately.

Romelu Lukaku also joined the Nerazzurri but in a permanent deal, but there is no temptation to bring the Chile international back to ease their attacking woes. Instead, they have set a £25m asking price for him. The money raised from any transfer would be used to pay off his colossal wage packet.

Man United source said: ‘The plan is to get some money back and use that to pay off most of his deal. ‘There is a hope that he has a good spell in Italy and they or another club want to take him off our hands next summer. ‘We have a fair valuation as he still has a few good years left in him based on his age and his strong reputation.’

Inter Milan don’t commit to add Chilean forward permanently, with the two clubs agreeing to split his wages during his season-long loan at the San Siro. Alexis Sanchez already scored his debut goal against Sampdoria.
