Man United started negotiations with 20-year-old Albanian defender

Red Devils and Man City are reportedly interested in signing Verona defender Marash Kumbulla. Ivan Juric’s side have done excellent in the Serie A this campaign following their promotion. They are currently 6th in the Serie A table with 34 points after beating reigning champions Juventus last campaign.

Albania international has done pretty well for the Italian club who have had a pretty defensive record in 2019/20. Marash has played 18 games for Gialloblu, scoring a goal against Sampdoria back in October. Kumbulla, who is valued at €10m, has emerged as a transfer target for both Man United and Man City.

The report also claims that Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in him as well. The 20-year-old centre-back has been in fine form this campaign, and it won’t be a surprise if other clubs show interest in signing him.

The Red Devils might need some reinforcements in the summer to challenge for the Premier League next campaign and have been linked to Kalidou Koulibaly. The Albanian defender would be a decent backup for the Red Devils, but it’d be hard for him to be a regular starter.

Man City’s displays have deteriorated this campaign and Laporte’s absence has been a key reason behind that. Man City could be in the market for a centre-back next campaign and they could try to sign Marash. City have also been linked to Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar as the club are eyeing a move for him in the summer.
