Newly appointed British giants manager eyes surprise move for Liverpool striker
New Rangers head coach Steven Gerrard is reportedly preparing to raid his ex-club Liverpool to take Dominic Solanke to Ibrox this summer.
Gerrard was approved as the Scottish outfit’s new coach in a four-year contract on Friday, with the Liverpool legend making his first foray into senior management at Rangers.
The 37-year-old will not officially take over at the club until the end of the campaign. However the Scottish Sun suggests that he is already making transfer plans having been assured that there will be money to spend.
The Englishman has reportedly recognized Solanke as one of his top transfer targets and is hopeful of pulling off a loan move for a footballer who has played just five starts across all tournaments since joining Liverpool from Chelsea last summer.
It stays to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp would be prepared to lose the England Under-20 international, although the promise of more regular first-team football is likely to appeal to Solanke.
The former midfielder has also been linked with another player who has ties to Liverpool after speculation surfaced that he is interested in bringing former teammate Martin Skrtel to the club.
