Official: Chelsea complete signing of 16-year-old promising striker

London club have wrapped up a deal for Norwegian starlet Bryan Fiabema who becomes Blues first winter signing, with the youngster meeting his new partners after Saturday’s win over Burnley. U16 Norway international who joins the academy rather than the first-team squad had a trial with the Blues at the end of last year and impressed enough to earn a permanent move.

Bryan signed a three-and-a-half-year deal on Friday morning at London club’s Cobham training ground. Fiabema was then invited to watch Saturday’s thumping 3-0 victory over Burnley in a box before being invited down to the dressing room to meet the squad.

The 16-year-old striker posed for a photo with Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is represented by the same agency, First Access Sports, while he also got to meet Blues manager Frank Lampard. His contract will turn professional as soon as he turns 17 next month, on February 16, and the London club have paid a small compensation fee to Tromso.

Norwegian club will receive around £860,000 for the striker and will also receive a small percentage of any resale should he leave the club. It could be a while before Blues supporters see the new boy in senior action, though, with the Norwegian striker ready to play for the Under-18 and Under-23 teams, as well as in the UEFA Youth League.

The youngster plays predominantly as a forward, making appearances for Norway’s Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 sides and scoring at all levels. He impressed enough during his trial at the club for Blues to pursue a deal and becomes their first new arrival since their transfer ban was lifted.
