Rangers in pole position to sign 22-year-old Liverpool winger
Scotland’s transfer window runs until the 2nd of September this year, so it gives clubs longer than their English counterparts to sign players. This could be an advantage for Gers in their chase of Ryan Kent. Steven Gerrard is willing to wait until the last day of the window if it means he can secure a come back to Ibrox for the Reds forward.
Ryan has featured in some of Merseyside club’s pre-season matches, so they may still be trying to decide if they want to keep him this campaign or not. Given the extra weeks in the Scottish window, the spare time could be crucial as that decision could come after the English window closes.
He was outstanding for Gers last campaign and won the PFA Scotland Young footballer of the Year award, and Steven has made it clear he wants Kent back. Gerrard said: “Am I willing to wait until the last day of the window for Ryan? I’m willing to wait until the very last second to get Kent back here.”
He went on to say: “ I feel he’s set to go again, with the confidence he should have from last campaign” There’s no way Ryan would dislodge Mane, Firmino or Salah in the Liverpool starting XI, but there have been some injuries in the Reds squad so far this summer.
If he could amaze Jurgen Klopp in training, then Merseyside club may decide to keep him with their first team this campaign. Last season Kent played 43 games, scored six goals and provided nine assists.
