Real Madrid in pole position to sign €120m-rated Liverpool forward
Los Blancos have reportedly been in contact with Sadio Mane since July 2019. In the past year, Senegal international has become a Champions League winner and is now closing in on the Premier League title with the Merseyside club. Sadio stays an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans to dominate English football.
Yet despite that, it hasn’t stopped La Liga giants from taking an interest in Mane. He’s a player that Zizou has spoken of in high regard in the Bernabeu boardroom and the French boss has been monitoring his displays closely. The 28-year-old scored with Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv, in which Los Blancos won 3-1.
Zizou first initiated contact with Sadio’s entourage last summer. Mane was said to be made aware that Los Blancos were prepared to launch an operation to bring him through the door. The negotiations were unsuccessful though, with Sadio committing his future to Anfield with the hope of winning the Premier League.
The report claims he could have a change of heart this summer though if Liverpool end their 30-year wait and lift the title in the coming months. Zizou wants to replace Karim Benzema and is slowly sounding out possible options. Florentino Perez is not said to be a fan of signing the Senegalese superstar, however.
He has invested heavily in Brazilian teenagers Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo while Eden Hazard is yet to make his mark in the Bernabeu since his £89m switch from Chelsea. Reds stance on Mane stays clear he is not for sale. A new deal offer is on the table for the Senegalese winger, and he is believed to be happy at Anfield.
