Red Devils leading the race to sign €65m-rated Serie A midfielder
Red Devils have reportedly opened fresh talks over a transfer deal for Lazio superstar Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Man United have once again initiated discussions over landing the world-class Serbian midfielder, who would cost around €90m.
Sergej seems ideal for Red Devils current needs, with the club yet to sign a replacement for Ander Herrera after his move to Paris Saint-Germain. There are also doubts about Paul Pogba’s future as the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus continue to be linked with the French superstar.
Man United have also been linked with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Sean Longstaff and Ivan Rakitic, but Serbia international could be the best choice of the bunch. Talks seem to have taken place today, and fans will hope this means it now won’t be too long before they see Milinkovic-Savic in a Red Devils shirt.
The 24-year-old midfielder was also strongly linked with Man United last summer, but a move never worked out, while he’s also attracted links with the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and AC Milan. Sergej joined Lazio from Genk in 2015 with an €18m deal.
He became a key figure for the club and scored several incredible goals since joining. Last season, Milinkovic-Savic played 40 matches, scored seven goals and provided three assists in all competitions. It is a fantastic result, and he can improve his consequences with top-class teammates.
The Serbian superstar has contracted with the Italian club until 2023, and his release clause is around €65m. He is a regular member of the national team and also played in the 2018 World Cup which is already a big success for the footballer.
