Revealed reason why No.11 winger refused to move Arsenal this summer

Wilfried Zaha admits his ‘head was a bit all over the place’ following Gunners failed attempt to add him this summer. Crystal Palace were angered by London club’s £40m offer for Ivory Coast international, while Arsenal refused to match his £80m valuations.

Wilfried had made it clear that he wanted to leave at the end of last campaign, but the Eagles held firm following bids from the Gunners and Everton and kept their star forward. And Zaha says he realised the had to get over the disappointment of being unable to leave quickly.

‘I had to put my head down and play my football,’ the 26-year-old winger said. ‘I would have been hindering my progress by moaning and not wanting to perform correctly. ‘I have too much respect for my manager, the fans and my teammates to treat them that way.

‘It was a thing where ‘OK, this hasn’t happened, but I’ve got to get on with it’. ‘I’ve got to prove every time that I’m the top player I claim to be so I had to get over that quickly. ‘My head was a bit all over the place at the beginning of the campaign, but I had to nail down and just get on with it because the club deserved that.’

Ivorian attacker has contracted with Crystal Palace until 2023, and his release clause is around €55m. He is a regular member of the national team squad and also played in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which is already a big success for the footballer.
