Roma started negotiations with £80,000-a-week Liverpool forward

AS Roma are reportedly interested in signing Merseyside club attacker Xherdan Shaqiri after missing out on Inter Milan Matteo Politano. Currently valued at €22m, the 28-year-old winger has played just ten matches across all tournaments, scoring a goal in last month’s Merseyside derby with Everton at Anfield.

Giallorossi are interested in signing Xherdan and negotiations are going on between them and Reds with Liverpool preferring to let go of the forward on an initial loan deal with the option to buy. The report claims that the Italian giants have shifted their attention to Shaqiri after missing out on Inter Milan’s Politan.

Switzerland international is a pretty good attacker, but when a team’s attack consists of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, one has to settle for being on the bench most of the time. Serie A giants would be a fine destination for the Swiss winger as there’s a very good chance of him being a regular starter there.

However, Merseyside club may not be willing to let go of him as he’s their only recognisable right-winger after Salah. With the fixtures piling up, there’s little doubt that the German manager would rest the Egyptian superstar at some point and use Shaqiri.

Roma have excellent consequences in the Serie A this campaign as they are in a fourth place in the table. Giallorossi signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Chris Smalling from Man United, Pau Lopez from Real Betis, Jordan Veretout from Fiorentina, Amadou Diawara from Napoli and Gianluca Mancini from Atalanta.
