Roma started negotiations with €35m-rated Man United forward

Roma are in negotiations with the Red Devils over the possibility of taking Alexis Sanchez on a season-long loan deal. Chile international has had a disappointing time of things in Man United since arriving from the Gunners in 2017, making just 45 appearances in all tournaments and scoring only five goals.

Red Devils coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he expects Alexis to remain at the Old Trafford, but Giallorossi are currently in talks over a temporary deal to sign him. The Premier League transfer window may have closed, but it stays open in Serie A until 2 September, and an agreement can still be done until that time.

An agreement will be tricky to come to as Sanchez is on an incredible £391,000-a-week at the Theatre of Dreams, which can rise to £500,000-a-week with bonuses. If the former Gunners winger were to move to Roma, then Man United would still have to pay a huge amount of those wages, but just how much will be haggled over.

The 30-year-old attacker competed in the Copa America for Chile over the summer so was late to come back to the Old Trafford for pre-season and is not expected to play early in the campaign. Norwegian manager has spoken positively about the Chilean star’s attitude and appears to want to reintegrate him into the first team this campaign.

‘Sanchez has come in and trained well,’ said Ole at his pre-match press conference before Sunday’s match with Chelsea. ‘He’s four or five weeks behind the boys and has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here.
