Salzburg talented forward linked with surprise move to Liverpool
Liverpool have handed transfer boost as Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly failed with an effort to land Red Bull Salzburg forward Patson Daka.
After contributing 24 goals and eight assists in the Austrian top-flight last season, the 21-year-old has inevitably been mentioned with a move to a bigger club.
A number of Premier League sides, including Liverpool and Arsenal, have been credited with an interest in the Zambian forward, who still has four years left on his current contract.
However, according to a recent report by the Evening Standard, Daka has no interest in sealing a move to Spurs over the coming weeks.
The 21-year-old star looks an outstanding talent, who could add some more depth to Jurgen Klopp’s attack for next campaign.
Liverpool do not have much depth beyond their admittedly brilliant first choice front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, with Divock Origi perhaps not the most reliable long-term variant, even if he has become a bit of a club legend for producing the occasional big-game display.
Patson looks the real deal after shining at RB Salzburg, a club that has produced a host of top players in recent times.
Sadio had a stint at Salzburg earlier in his professional career before eventually ending up at Anfield, and playmaker Takumi Minamino was signed from the Austrian side back in January, while Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland made the move from there to Borussia Dortmund in the same transfer market.
