Serie A giants started negotiations with €80m-rated Man United star

Andrea Pirlo is wasting no time identifying who he wants to form part of his new Bianconeri line-up, with Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba seemingly top of his shopping list. Aaron Ramsey is one of a handful of footballers that Pirlo is willing to offload, with France international’s name being mentioned as a potential replacement.

Despite winning the Serie A trophy in his debut campaign Maurizio Sarri was sacked shortly after Lyon knocked the Old Lady out of the UCL on Friday night, with Andrea swiftly promoted from his recent appointment as U23s coach to replace him.

“Knowing Andrea, he will start building from midfield,” Pirlo’s former partner, Luca Toni said. “The ideal gift would be Pogba. I don’t know if that’s possible, but it would certainly be the best option.”

Given that Paul has formed a fantastic understanding with Bruno Fernandes since finding himself back in the Red Devils XI under the Norwegian manager, it’s doubtful that Ole will take kindly to Andrea upsetting Man United’s equilibrium.

There are very few teams that Pogba would leave Theatre of Dreams for, but it’s believed that former club, Juventus, would be one of them. The situation has changed significantly for the footballer at the Theatre of Dreams, however.

Were the Old Lady sniffing around a few months ago, then the chances are the Frenchman would’ve moved if the finances were all in place. That’s not the case now, and he may prefer to be part of what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building rather than fighting for a place alongside Arthur Melo, Adrian Rabiot and Rodrigo Bentancur.
