Solskjaer to make shocking u-turn over 30-year-old winger

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he would keep Alexis Sanchez and will only allow him to leave if they receive a suitable offer.

The Chile international is yet to feature in the Premier League this campaign and has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan.

The Italian club have until September 2 to register new players and it is believed the Nerazzurri, now coached by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, were interested in a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

But with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allowing Romelu Lukaku to move to San Siro, he has been left with only two senior forward in Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, along with 17-year-old Mason Greenwood.

The Norwegian manager revealed Alexis Sanchez could still leave but admitted he would be happy to keep the 30-year-old ace at Old Trafford should a move fail to materialise.

“Alexis is a quality player. We don’t have loads of options,” Solskjaer said.

“If there is an offer that’s good enough for the club and him maybe he will go, but if not then he’s still our player, and he’s a quality player.”

The South American has scored just three Premier League goals since arriving as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mhkitaryan back in January 2018.

The Chilean was left out of the 18-man squad for the 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace as he looks to sort out his future.
