Spanish clubs preparing shock move for two Liverpool key figures

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp and centre-back Virgil van Dijk are both targets for La Liga clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona. Los Blancos and Blaugrana are both considering double swoops for the German manager and the Dutch centre-back, in what would be seismic swoops for European football.

Both Spanish giants have made disappointing starts to their league campaigns, with neither managing more than two wins from their opening four matches and both outside of the top two in the early-season table.

There is pressure on Ernesto Valverde at the Nou Camp and Zizou at the Santiago Bernabeu to improve results, and failure to win domestic or European honours this campaign could see either of them out of work next summer.

Merseyside club do not want to see Jurgen or Virgil leave and it would take a great offer from either La Liga club to get Liverpool even to consider accepting. The German tactician is under contract until 2022 at Anfield and has always been clear about his intention to see out that deal, but potentially leave after it comes to an end.

Dutch star only agreed on a mammoth new deal with the Reds earlier this month, committing to a six-year contract that keeps him at the club till 2025. Getting Klopp and van Dijk out of those deals next year would take a great financial investment from Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Klopp and Van Dijk’s stocks continue to rise with a fantastic start to the campaign which has seen them win all five of their Premier League matches and sit top of the table.
