Tottenham signed Red Devils transfer target with a €60m deal
Red Devils failed with a late push to sign Tanguy Ndombele ahead of Spurs. Tottenham have shattered their transfer record for the French midfielder having agreed a €62m deal with the French club, plus a further €10m in add-ons. Tanguy has also agreed a six-year contract with the Spurs and has completed his medical after arriving in London.
Tottenham were forced to fend off ‘late interest’ from Man United with Mauricio Pochettino playing a key role in convincing the footballer to reject a switch to Old Trafford.
Red Devils and Man City had both been interested in France international, but the player was impressed with Spurs after he met with an Argentine manager at the club’s training ground last week. Ndombele played 34 games for the Les Gones last campaign and was instrumental in helping the club finish third in Ligue 1.
Tanguy was also praised for his display by Pep Guardiola after Lyon beat Citizens in the Champions League group stage. Tottenham also signed Jack Clarke from Leeds United with an €11m deal yesterday.
Man United, meanwhile, are searching for a new central midfielder to replace Ander Herrera, who has left on a free transfer, and potentially Paul Pogba, who is heavily linked with Real Madrid.
Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff is a target, while Red Devils have reportedly made a £35m offer to sign Spain Under-21 playmaker Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb. Norwegian manager closely monitoring Sporting superstar Bruno Fernandes who had a fantastic season and proved his worth one more time.
