UCL giants almost finished talks with €100m-rated Man United target
Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has reportedly rejected two offers of a new contract with the club and accepted terms on a transfer to Los Blancos. Danish superstar has given the ‘ok’ to a move to the Bernabeu, despite waiting for Real Madrid to formalise their interest.
Christian has become the priority for Los Blancos president Florentino Perez over Man United star Paul Pogba, who is the preferred option of coach Zinedine Zidane. It stays to be seen if this move will go through, however, as Eriksen is growing impatient over how long Spanish club are taking to get the deal over the line.
Denmark international could soon start negotiating with other interested clubs if the UCL giants don’t step things up. Barcelona as one such admirer and the 27-year-old attacker could do a job for either of La Liga’s big two. Eriksen has contracted with Tottenham until 2020, and his release clause is around €100m.
The former Ajax man has been one of the stand-out performers for Spurs in recent times, and it’ll be a big loss for the north Londoners if he does eventually leave. Los Blancos had terrible results last season as they finished La Liga in a third position and knocked out from the Champions League and Copa del Rey.
Spanish club already signed Eder Militao from Porto, Eden Hazard from Chelsea, Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt, Ferland Mendy from Lyon and Rodrygo Goes from Santos this summer. Real Madrid heavily linked with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe and Man United midfielder Paul Pogba.
