Unai Emery could leave Arsenal during the winter transfer window
Gunners hierarchy have given Unai Emery until winter to save his job, according to reports. The Spanish manager is under increasing pressure following London club’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on the weekend, which has left them eight points behind fourth place.
Arsenal supporters are already calling on Gunners board to sack Unai following several unconvincing performances. But reports have claimed that Emery will be given time to improve the London club’s situation. Unai won several titles during his career like three Europa League and Ligue 1 trophy with PSG.
Spanish coach’s fate will be decided after Arsenal’s performances this month and in December. If Gunners are in contention of securing a top-four finish after their fixture with Man United on New Year’s Day, Spaniard will be given until the end of the campaign.
But if the London club slip further behind, it’s reported that Arsenal’s hierarchy will target a replacement for the 48-year-old manager. Reports have claimed that both Jose Mourinho and Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona boss, have been approached by Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi.
London club have eight Premier League matches before they host Man United at the Emirates Stadium on January 1, including home fixtures against Man City and Chelsea. Unai Emery has last chance to improve the situation in London club, or he will leave the Gunners in winter.
Arsenal signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano, Nicolas Pepe from Lille, Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid, David Luiz from Chelsea, Kieran Tierney from Celtic and William Saliba from Saint-Étienne.
