West Ham €50m-rated midfielder on top of Chelsea radar

The London giants have emerged as the overwhelming favourites to win the battle for the Declan Rice transfer this summer. Chelsea have long been linked with the West Ham United midfielder, who has shown himself to be one of the finest midfield talents in Europe in recent times.

England international spent time with Blues academy earlier in his career and remains good friends with Mason Mount, and speculation continues to hot up about a come back to Chelsea. Blues are odds-on favourites to sign Declan this summer, with the bookies offering 1/2 odds that Chelsea will be his next destination.

That’s in comparison to odds of 10/1 that he’ll end up at Man United, so despite links with the Red Devils, it looks far more likely that he’ll end up at Stamford Bridge. Blues boss would surely benefit from this deal, with Rice perhaps an upgrade on the injury-prone N’Golo Kante, whose future at London club is in doubt.

Man United may be disappointed to miss out on the 21-year-old midfielder, but they’re closing in on another fine midfield signing in the form of Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek.

The English midfielder is understood to be valued at nearly £80m by Hammers and has been hailed as ‘this generation’s Michael Carrick’ by former PL player Jamie O’Hara, who has urged Blues to wrap up a deal.

But Pearce, who returned to Hammers in August as a first-team boss under David Moyes, has revealed the club have no intention of letting one of their best footballers go.
